Best of Summer: Favorite Rooftops in Paris

In a stunning city like Paris, there’s nothing better than sipping a glass of wine, basking in the warmth of the sun, and marveling at the views from high above. Whether you are an idle dreamer wanting to watch the world go by, a creative searching for your next bouts of inspiration, or a fun-loving partygoer looking for the places to see and be seen, a Parisian rooftop is the place to be!

Here is a list of some of our favorite rooftop terraces in the City of Light.

Le Perchoir

Initially started on the seventh floor of an industrial building in the Ménilmontant district, Le Perchoir, which has now expanded to a number of locations across Paris, has established itself as a cool rooftop that you don’t want to miss. It’s got an allure of exclusivity and mystery, providing a fun escape from everyday life. Whether you’re looking for a cozy hideout or a funky night out, Le Perchoir has it all.

Of all the outposts, we recommend Le Perchoir Marais, perched on top of the BHV department store, as it offers beautiful city-center views — you can admire all the sculptural details of the Hotel de Ville right across the street, with the Eiffel Tower in the backdrop.

Feeling a little peckish? They have a simple, yet delicious summer menu, with a selection of Banh Mi, ravioli and juicy salad that are under €10 each.

A Beer with a View at the Montparnasse Tower

It’s hard to miss the Montparnasse Tower. As Bonjour Paris contributor Meredith Mullins described it in a photo essay, it’s a “monolithic monster” and the most visible monument in Paris.

But being the tallest building in Paris has many perks, and one of them is its 360-degree view of the City of Light from the sky-high terrace. From June to September, the Montparnasse Tower is teaming up with La Brasserie Fondamentale to host a pop-up bar offering craft beer (organic blond, IPA, etc) and other treats. We like the sound of the “intense vanilla” and “Gods of the Amazon” ice cream flavors.

Additional Information

33 avenue du Maine, 15th
Open everyday 1:30pm – 10:30pm
Access to the bar is included with every admission ticket.

Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann

There’s an unmissable pop-up restaurant that resides on the roof of Paris’s largest department store. Back for the third year in a row due to its massive following, Julien Sebbag’s Créatures offers exquisite vegetarian cuisine with a view. That’s not all. The grand magasin is throwing a big rooftop party this summer with free concerts, movie screenings and exhibits. Find out more.

40 Bd Haussmann, 9th

Station M – Hotel Maison Montmartre

Looking for something more arty and design-centric? Then Station M on top of the Hotel Maison Montmartre should definitely be on your list to visit. Located between the Butte Montmartre and the Saint-Ouen flea market, this hotel is a 10-minute walk away from the quaint cobbled streets of Montmartre. The vibe here is cool and urban, reflecting the trendy boho ambiance of the neighborhood.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner aren’t the only offers on the rooftop terrace. With live shows held every third Wednesday of the month, and pop up photo exhibitions, this terrace reflects the culture of the streets it’s surrounded by. What’s more, there are also rumors that yoga sessions will start soon.

Additional Information

32 Avenue de la Porte de Montmartre, 18th

Cabanon Perché – Terrass’ Hotel

Hankering for a trip to the seaside? Then there’s no better place to go than Cabanon Perché. It’s as if someone has taken a beach resort from the Atlantic coast and landed it on top of the Terrass’ Hotel. Strongly inspired by the beach, this exotic venue bears the true meaning of summer. With ceviche, oysters and taramasalata on the menu, it wouldn’t even be surprising if you were to see dancers in straw skirts doing the hula. So sit back on your deck chairs, relax, and truly immerse yourself in the beach lifestyle in the middle of Paris.

Additional Information

12-14 Rue Joseph de Maistre, 18th

Villa M

While Cabanon Perché brings the beach into the city, Villa M brings a jungle. At first glance of the building, you can definitely sense the vision of the architects (Triptyque and Philippe Starck). With trailing plants for its façade, a warm and earthy palette, as well as fruit trees and plants, Villa M invites you to reconnect with nature while overlooking the Eiffel Tower, the Montparnasse Tower, and the Dôme des Invalides.

Additional Information

Boulevard Pasteur, 15th
Open everyday 5 pm – 10 pm (last entry at 9.15 pm)

Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadéro

Newly opened last year, the Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadéro is a quick walk to the Trocadéro, situated close to iconic attractions such as Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées. The best part of all might be the landscape rooftop bar that gives you a bird’s eye view of the Iron Lady. This lively spot offers a tapas-style menu, craft beer and cocktails.

ROOF – Hôtel Madame Rêve

Madame Rêve is truly the stuff of dreams. On the seventh floor of this new hotel is a sprawling rooftop garden, aptly named ROOF. Discover the 1000 meter square oasis overlooking iconic buildings such as the Centre Pompidou and the Saint-Eustache church, indulge in a satiable range of drinks, and have a taste of the Japanese inspired snack menu. Being a short walk from the Louvre, La Samaritaine and The Pinault Collection, ROOF is the perfect place to rest your feet after a full day of being a flâneur around the capital’s cultural sites.

Mūn – Champs-Élysées

Mūn is a chic, intimate space resembling an Oriental-style boudoir. With a panda marble bar and velvet benches, this stylish rooftop restaurant overlooks the world’s most beautiful avenue, the Champs-Élysées. Complete with a mouthwatering Japanese menu, by Julien Chicoisne and Roland Puse, Mūn offers delightful dishes such as Shabu Shabu style king prawns and charcoal-grilled yakitori. Plus, there’s a fresh sushi bar for those sushi lovers out there. Pair your food with cocktails by Aurélien Fleury, and finish it off with beautiful patisseries created by Yann Couvreur.

Laho – Gare de Lyon

Just a walk away from the Gare de Lyon, you can take a private elevator that brings you 60 meters above Paris. As suspected, being this high, the views are to die for. Laho is the best place to have excellent meals made with seasonal produce while watching the sunset. For those looking for something more exuberant, on Fridays and Saturdays, Laho is a lively and entertaining space with DJ sets by Babaflex and more. So grab yourself a drink from the selection of wine and cocktails, and have a little boogie!

Wanderlust is a versatile rooftop terrace that’s perched top of the Cité de la Mode et du Design right on the Seine in the 13th. It’s a hybrid space, able to morph into a restaurant, art space, marketplace, and even a club.

A club on a rooftop? Say no more.

In the evening, Wanderlust transforms into a unique rooftop club with live DJ serving house, disco, and any other genres of music out there. Offering panoramic views of the Seine, Wanderlust lets you walk through fashion and design exhibits as you wait in the queue to the dance floor.
