New in Town: Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadéro

There’s been a flurry of new hotel openings in Paris, adding to an already impressive roster of places to stay in the French capital. From spa destinations to hot neighborhood hang-outs, travelers can choose between a number of exciting addresses, based on mood, the arrondissement location, and the purpose of your stay.

One to add to your little black book is the Canopy by Hilton Trocadéro, which opened last summer as the first of its brand in France. Situated at 16 Avenue d’Eylau in the 16th arrondissement, just steps from the Trocadéro, the hotel aims to be a vibrant destination as much for appreciating the neighborhood as for spending the night.

If you’re not familiar with the brand, here’s the low-down. Launched in 2014 in the United States, Canopy is Hilton’s lifestyle hotel concept designed to reflect the neighborhoods where they’re located. Expect unique personality, lively lobbies, and local experiences recommended by a team of insider experts. There are currently 27 Canopy by Hilton hotels globally, with 30 properties in the pipeline, including a new Paris hotel in the Latin Quarter for 2022. All rooms come with signature mattresses designed for Canopy by Hilton, Nespresso machines, and large walk-in showers in the bathroom.

What’s special about the Trocadéro property is the rooftop bar, landscaped with lush vegetation, where you can enjoy cocktails and sharing platters with Eiffel Tower views. Those views can also be enjoyed from a quarter of the 123 guest rooms, spread out over seven floors. (The other guest rooms have views of the hotel’s gorgeous green wall and Parisian rooftops.) Note that some of these rooms are also equipped with balconies/terraces, and 20 of the rooms are interconnecting.

Canopy by Hilton tapped in-demand architect Jean-Philippe Nuel— responsible for some of France’s most talked-about hotel design projects, like the Molitor, InterContinental Hotel Dieu Lyon, and even Ponant cruise ship interiors— to oversee the hotel’s design. Inspired by its industrial past, the team transformed the 1930s building with an Art Deco aesthetic mixed with modern French luxury. The decor and color palette are direct nods to architectural greats like Le Corbusier and Mallet Stevens. Lobby furniture like the bookshelves and Boomerang-shaped desk were inspired by famed French designer Charlotte Perriand. The lighting alone is seriously cool.

Facilities include the L’Esprit Nouveau restaurant, serving classic French cuisine crafted with local ingredients, and a fully equipped fitness room. A special program of evening events showcases local distilleries, craft breweries, and wineries with daily tastings for guests. Welcome treats also highlight the hotel’s locality.

Note that the Canopy by Hilton Trocadéro is dog friendly and canine guests receive a BARK welcome kit stocked with treats and toys. Regular room rates start at 299 euros/night.
