6 Unique Hotels in the Latin Quarter

Le Jardin de Verre by Locke

Opened in February 2025, Le Jardin de Verre by Locke is the biggest hotel in the 5th arrondissement, with 145 rooms. Despite its size, Le Jardin de Verre has a boutique feel, while simultaneously providing numerous services and amenities including coworking spaces, a fitness room with yoga and Pilates classes, a full-service restaurant and bar, a coffee shop with homemade treats, and event rooms. 

Spanning three buildings, the hotel’s history is quite interesting. The first building is a renovated 18th-century manor, and the second is a restored 19th-century distillery. While Le Jardin de Verre is not an apart-hotel, they do welcome long-term visitors, and every room is equipped with a kitchenette. At reception, you’ll find a pop-up shop that changes throughout the year, supporting local artists and artisans. One of Locke’s main values is to support the arts: all of their paintings are commissioned specifically for the hotel and are created by artists who live in France. Along a similar vein, all of the alcohols in their cocktail bar are 100% French. The bar, terrace, and restaurant Bibie are open to hotel guests as well as the public, and the bar has DJs on Fridays and Saturdays. As part of their commitment to the environment, Le Jardin de Verre has unique features in each bathroom: the toilets use 99% rainwater instead of freshwater, and shower water is captured to be reused for the water heater. In addition, hundreds of plants spread across the hotel help keep the space clean and cool. Les Bulles de Paris

The family country home which is now the Hôtel des Grandes Écoles provides a tranquil, green space in the bustling Latin Quarter. Located down a private way, Grandes Écoles is made up of three buildings, the corridors decorated with family photos to recall its previous life.

While one of the buildings has been renovated to provide a more modern feel, the goal of Grandes Écoles is to maintain the calm, revitalizing spirit of a country home. As part of this goal, there are no televisions in any of the rooms, and the hotel is certified with the EU Ecolabel. In addition, they partner with a bike shop to offer guests discounts on rented bikes.

Formerly a car garage, Hôtel Pilgrim has a unique and purposeful minimalistic design, with distinctly brute architecture. As part of their focus on sustainability, Pilgrim has received the EU Ecolabel, partners with local environmental organizations, and offers homemade or locally bought breakfast items. Their newest sustainable service involves the innovative platform Luniwave installed in the showers, which is linked to an app that measures each guest’s level of water consumption and other factors related to the environment during their stay. The app then racks up eco-points which can be used to get discounts at the hotel. 

Hôtel Pilgrim has several amenities that can be enjoyed by both the public and those staying at the hotel: the bar, rooftop, and spa. The rooftop can be privatized for parties and events, and visitors are welcome to use the bar space and courtyard during off-hours as an unofficial coworking space. Opened just a couple years ago, Grand Cœur Latin has already begun to make its mark. Located in a prime spot off of Boulevard Saint Michel, Grand Cœur Latin is a few steps away from Place de la Sorbonne, with other attractions like the Panthéon and Jardin du Luxembourg only a few minutes’ walk away.

Hôtel Résidence Henri IV

Located on a quiet street in the heart of the Latin Quarter, Résidence Henri IV is the smallest hotel on this list, with eight standard rooms and five apartments. Each room is thematically designed, with décor related to the period of Henri IV (late 16th-early 17th century) and rooms named after influential French figures like King Louis XIV and philosopher Montaigne. 

Résidence Henri IV is located in a typical 19th-century Parisian building and has been a hotel for over a hundred years, though not always under the same name.
