8 Trendy Eateries in Paris, According to TikTok

Are you searching for the aesthetic restaurant of your dreams? One that will provide the perfect backdrops to those Instagram-worthy pictures? Or perhaps a venue for a brilliant birthday celebration? Then look no further than these eight Parisian restaurants that are currently going viral on TikTok, the influential social media platform.

What once started as an app sharing dance routines now encompasses videos of all content from all communities. TikTok has become a powerful marketing tool for any restaurant, bar, or cafe owner. In 2021, the app had an astonishing 1.2 billion active users, and in 2023, this number is expected to grow even more. When visiting a new city, most users search for restaurant recommendations through the app. The hashtag #restaurantparis has had over 280 million views on TikTok, and you will find thousands of videos from locals and tourists alike sharing their favorite restaurants across the city. At my time of writing, the following eight restaurants are receiving the most views, shares, and videos made about them.

Now, a disclaimer: A restaurant that is trending on TikTok does not necessarily mean that it is an establishment of culinary excellence. The popularity of a restaurant on social media lays heavily on the aspects which are seen as “Instagrammable”, such as the aesthetic interiors, the presentation of the food, the views, and the atmosphere. Once a restaurant has been deemed “cool” on TikTok, that judgment further enhances its attractiveness.

Make sure to book weeks in advance to avoid disappointment and an hours-long queue.

Pink Mamma

20bis Rue de Douai, 9th

Starting off strong, we have the Italian restaurant Pink Mamma in Pigalle. This restaurant is one of nine venues across Paris belonging to the Big Mamma family, a restaurant group known for its unique interiors and authentic Italian cuisine. This particular location is especially gorgeous, spread across floor floors, with the fourth floor surrounded by wall-to-ceiling glass providing beautiful light and a great view of Montmartre. Though the food is perhaps more commercialized than that found at independent Italian restaurants, the flavors still remain good. Special mention goes to their infamous truffle pasta, and the cocktails served in amusing receptacles.

@shirleyye_ Tip: try to go for dinner instead of lunch because this was so heavy for our first meal + massive food coma after 😭 #paris #whatiate #ratingfood #foodguide #italianfood #pariseats ♬ I Love You 3000 II – Stephanie Poetri, Jackson Wang

Cafe Carette

25 Pl. des Vosges, 3rd

Take a break from a day spent shopping in the Marais with a stop at the iconic Cafe Carette on the Place des Vosges. It is here that you will find the famously unctuous hot chocolate, served with an impressive bowl of whipped chantilly cream. This decadent drink went particularly viral on TikTok, and the elegant cafe is now rarely seen without a queue outside. Pair the beverage with one of their pastries, or perhaps even a sandwich or main meal.

Le Relais de L’Entrecote

15 Rue Marbeuf, 8th
101 Bd du Montparnasse, 6th
20 Rue Saint-Benoît, 6th

This group of bistros has earned its reputation from its celebrated single-course menu: a walnut salad followed by an extra tender sirloin steak with its famous secret sauce and delicious homemade french fries. These establishments are the epitome of a classic French restaurant, with their red awnings, convivial terraces, and hospitality. The menu leaves you with only one decision – rare, medium, or well done. Or, as we say in France, saignantes, à point, ou bien cuites?

La Maison Rose

2 Rue de l’Abreuvoir, 18th

Situated upon the hill of Montmartre and overlooking the city of Paris, the striking pink facade of La Maison Rose has become a well-known backdrop for many an Instagram post. And I can see why. The cobbled lanes and climbing ivies encapsulate the bohemian and relaxed vibe of Montmartre, in contrast to the more prim and proper areas in the city center. What once was the painting studio of Spanish painter Ramon Pichot is now a stop for delectable dishes in a quaint location.

Le Cafe Marly

93 Rue de Rivoli, 1st

According to TikTok, this cafe, with its views of the Louvre, is the ultimate brunch spot in Paris. The plush red and striking gold decor of the interior alleviates the upset of not being seated on the picturesque terrace. Expect a traditional French menu of croissants, sandwiches, omelettes, and tartares, brought to you by smartly turned-out waiting staff. However, the location is definitely reflected in the price of the meal, so don’t forget that this premium comes at a cost!

Chez Janou

2 Rue Roger Verlomme, 3rd

For another rich and chocolatey indulgence, head to Chez Janou in Le Marais to try their famous chocolate mousse. Served with a ladle from a large porcelain bowl, the generous portion size will please the pickiest sweet tooth. With inspiration taken from the South of France, this time of year would be the perfect time to sit and enjoy the Parisian atmosphere under the shade of the terrace’s Provençal olive trees. Perhaps you’ll be tempted by one of the bar’s 80 types of pastis – the renowned French aperitif.

L’Avenue

41 Avenue Montaigne, 8th

Boasting an unobstructed view of the Eiffel Tower, l’Avenue has become known as the best lunch spot for influencers and fashionistas, thanks to celebrities such as Kanye West, Kate Moss, Rihanna, Beyonce, and Justin Bieber. Securing a table here gives you a good chance to spot some superstars. The food is refined, which is a given considering that L’Avenue is part of the Costes Group. With that in mind, don’t come here looking for an affordable meal, with a cocktail setting you back €22.

CoCo

Palais Garnier, 1 Pl. Jacques Rouché, 9th

Though beautifully decorated and with delicious food, it is in fact the location of CoCo that really gives it an edge. The restaurant shares the exquisite building of the Palais Garnier, and with live music performed while you eat, the atmosphere of the opera is all around. Providing a festive dining experience, this location ticks all of the boxes for a trendy eatery.
