5 Unique Hotels in Paris

Searching for ideas on where to stay during your next trip to Paris? Look no further than these five unique hotels, guaranteed to give you a Parisian experience unlike any other.

1. Hôtel Cabane

Hôtel Cabane, located in the Montparnasse neighborhood, is a quaint spot for a Parisian getaway. The hotel’s claim to fame is its Scandinavian-style cabin nestled in the garden, accessible by private walkway. While there is only one cabin, the ground-floor rooms feature terraces leading into the garden, and the garden is accessible to all hotel guests. Guests can also enjoy daily breakfast and a full-service bar, though any requests for vegetarian or vegan alternatives must be made in advance. For non-guests who are interested in experiencing the Hôtel Cabane, coworking spaces are available for 5€ per hour.

Hôtel Cabane is dedicated to sustainability, and they have received the Green Key (Clef Verte) label, the first label for sustainable, eco-responsible tourism. This label is reserved for places like hotels, camping grounds, and restaurants who meet strict criteria such as consuming less water and electricity, reducing waste, and educating employees on how to manage their environment in a more sustainable way. In addition to being eco-friendly, Hôtel Cabane is pet-friendly and wheelchair accessible.

Situated in the 13th arrondissement, OFF Paris Seine is the first floating hotel, restaurant, and bar on the Seine. It’s conveniently located near Gare d’Austerlitz, as well as Gare de Lyon and the famous Jardin des Plantes with its various museums, zoo, and other attractions. Due to its placement near major Métro and train stations, OFF makes it easy to travel anywhere in Paris or France. For those who prefer walking, simply follow the Seine west toward landmarks like the Louvre, Place de la Concorde, and Eiffel Tower. OFF offers attractive services such as a private cruise booked upon request and an indoor pool that makes you feel as if you’re swimming in the Seine. The hotel is open 24/7, while the restaurant and bar are open daily to the public with brunch on the weekends.

3. Hotel Paradiso

Cinephiles across the world, the Hotel Paradiso is for you! Created by the famous mk2 film group, Hotel Paradiso is the first cinema-hotel in Paris. Each room is its own mini-cinema, equipped with a three-meter-wide screen and a large selection of film choices from platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Arte, and more. A PlayStation 5 can be installed upon request for those who enjoy video games, and the hotel is connected to the neighboring mk2 Cinema at Nation for those who want to watch new releases.

You don’t have to be a hotel guest to enjoy the Hotel Paradiso; they have a rooftop terrace with an open-air cinema in the summer, a small café, and a private karaoke room for up to 10 people. In addition, their new “Sunday under the blanket” experience allows you to book a room for a Sunday afternoon of bingeing your favorite films.

Address: 135 boulevard Diderot, 12th

4. Hôtel Particulier Montmartre

Managed by gardener Oscar Comtet and his family, the Hôtel Particulier Montmartre was once a private residence that has been transformed by Oscar’s training and expertise as a landscape gardener. The hotel is hidden within a lush garden in Montmartre, just a few minutes away from Sacré Cœur, and offers the atmosphere of a country home in the middle of Paris. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a few nights or enjoy the full-service restaurant and bar, open to the public daily. For holidays, enjoy special events and themed menus at the hotel’s restaurant, such as their upcoming Valentine’s Day dinner. Although this hotel is the smallest in Paris, its five gorgeous suites with tranquil views of the garden don’t disappoint.

Address: 23 avenue Junot, Pavillon D, 18th

To enter, go to the gate marked “Voie Privée” and ring the bell under the sign for the Hôtel Particulier Montmartre. Enter and walk past the main building on your right. Enjoy a brief walk through the garden until you see the sign and gate for the hotel on your left.

5. Maison Souquet Hotel & Spa

Tucked into a street steps away from the Moulin Rouge, Maison Souquet Hotel & Spa is a five-star hotel housed inside a former brothel. When designing the hotel, the Collection Maisons Particulières, which owns Maison Souquet, was inspired by the brothels of the Belle Époque. Unfortunately, few traces remain of the original Maison that opened in 1905, but each of the hotel’s decorations has been painstakingly designed and constructed to be as authentic as possible. Red velvet couches, chandeliers, and gilded arches adorn each salon of the hotel.

The first salon serves as the lobby, where guests are welcomed with the hotel’s signature mocktail made from a variety of fruit juices and hibiscus. This first salon was originally where men would wait and socialize before entering the larger brothel. The second salon, now the hotel’s bar, and third salon, now a seating area for breakfast and casual conversations, were also used for socializing and relaxing. Double red doors lead up to the 20 guest rooms, each distinctively designed in styles such as Napoleonic, Oriental, and Art Deco.

Beyond offering an intimate and historical environment, Maison Souquet prides itself on its private spa, which can be reserved by hotel guests. The spa features a swimming pool and hammam, as well as personalized spa care. As a new offering, non-hotel guests can now enjoy access to the private spa during select time slots for €150 per hour. In addition, certain salons and the garden can be reserved for private events.
