Fortunately, the Dior Institut at the Plaza Athénée was there to help me through my jet lag—and other woes.

    There's a signature violet box of Ladurée macaroons on my bed. It is the jewel in the crown in a spacious room draped with double-faced silk curtains and a wall of French doors that lead to a balcony where you can nibble the best macaroons in France (arguably, the best in the world).
