Café Mobility

By Dan Heching Quite a while ago I wrote an article in steadfast support of that bastion of all things American, Starbucks, which is now popping up even more feverishly throughout Paris.  You can now even walk around 30 minutes from Pompidou to Bastille and pass…three.  Well, here is another reason to add to the already quite convincing list of why, in fact, this is a good thing (??!).  In all the Parisien Starbucks-es, Wi-fi can be found.  That’s right, wireless internet!  And the same goes for certain locations within the Indiana Café and Indiana Club chains (serving good-to-middling Mexican fare in a city with not much Mexican food to go around).  In fact that’s where I write you now, just across from the Gare de l’Est.

But you can go on hating Starbucks – they make you pay for access – and it isn’t cheap either.  A half-hour of online time will cost 4 euros and 50 cents.  Quand même!

To ease your pains when searching for a free place to brancher (plug in), Bonjour Paris provides below two sites that can help locate the nearest free Wi-fi (pronounces “wee-fee” over here) hotspot, one with a fun navigable map!
