Photo Essay: Exploring the Recently Renovated Rodin Museum, Paris
After a three-year renovation, the Rodin Museum recently reopened to the great joy of Parisians and visitors alike. On a recent trip to Paris, I spent a rainy afternoon touring the beautifully restored Hôtel Biron, where the museum is housed. Having visited three times since 2007, it has always been one of my favorites, so naturally I was anxious to see the improvements. We were not disappointed. With a fresh coat of paint, the exquisite chandeliers cleaned, the lovely old mirrors reflected the magnificent sculpture. I was particularly drawn to the new room where Rodin’s studio is recreated. The restoration has allowed more of his work to be exhibited which is a treasure. A memorable afternoon spent in one of Paris’s most beautiful museums…

    Amazingly the museum funds itself.

The Rodin is a privately run museum. They keep remodeling it with funds raised from special events and contributions. Rare in this day and age.

We returned to the Rodin Museum in December, after the renovation had been completed. It is indeed a striking building filled with gorgeous sculptures. An oasis in Paris. Virgina's photos capture the beauty and opulence of this great museum.

We visited the Museum in 2014. It wasn't closed.
