Netflix’s hit crime thriller series Lupin, based on the character Arsène Lupin, created by writer Maurice Leblanc in 1905, returns for Part 4 this October. If you’re a Lupin fan – or even just an Omar Sy fan or Paris fan – here are seven things to know about the new season.
Part 4 premieres on October 23, 2026
This fourth series debuts this month – on a Friday, thankfully. That means you can plan to spend your entire weekend binge-watching all eight episodes of the new season, should you wish. (Also coming out later this year on the popular streaming platform is the newest and final season of the Netflix love-it-or-hate-it hit, Emily in Paris.)
Omar Sy returns as the protagonist Assane Diop, and Sy also co-produces the show
French actor Omar Sy returns to the series as Assane Diop, a man inspired by the adventures of Arsène Lupin. Sy is a co-producer on the series through Carrousel Studios, an independent film and TV production company co-founded by Sy.
Assane Diop is still in prison
When Part 4 begins, it is four years after the events in Part 3, when Assane surrendered to the police to protect his loved ones. Knowing Assane, though, he likely won’t be in prison for much of Part 4.
Someone new is impersonating Lupin
Initially, Assane Diop (Sy) worked alone. But now, there’s a mysterious new criminal who is impersonating Lupin. The new criminal has targeted multiple major museums in various heists and is announcing them under the name “Lupin.” Assane insists he is innocent.
Assane needs to escape
Assane Diop doesn’t give up easily. To solve the mystery of the new impersonator, he vows to escape prison and, once more, become Lupin. As is a trademark of the Netflix series, viewers can expect jaw-dropping twists, incredible disguises, and various schemes that will have you on the edge of your seat (or couch).
Lupin fans will see familiar faces
Fans who have watched from the beginning will be delighted to see many previous cast members return this season. They include: Ludivine Sagnier as Claire, Antoine Gouy as Benjamin, Soufiane Guerrab as Guédira, and Shirine Boutella as Sofia Belkacem.
Paris is also a star of the show
One of the many reasons Lupin is so engaging is that it’s set around Paris and includes stunning views of famous Parisian landmarks, inside looks at iconic museums (like the Louvre), and adventures around the City of Light. If you love Paris, this new season is not to be missed.
