Conversation entre M. Dubois et M. Moreau
(Conversation between Mr. Dubois and Mr. Moreau)
Dialogue – Premiere de deux parties (Dialogue, first of two parts)

M. Dubois – Qu’avez-vous fait pendant le week-end? (what did you do over the week-end?)

M. Moreau – Je suis allé à Versailles (I went to Versailles)

M. Dubois – En auto ? (by car?)

M. Moreau – Oui, par la nouvelle route (yes, by the new road)

M. Dubois – Comment est-elle? (how is it?)

M. Moreau – Elle est meilleure que l’autre. (it’s better than the other).
Malgré la pluie, elle n’était pas glissante du tout. (in spite of the rain, it was not at all slippery).

M. Dubois – Elle doit être aussi plus jolie que l’ancienne (it must also be prettier than the old one).

M. Moreeau – Bien plus, parce qu’elle traverse la forêt (much prettier, because it goes through the forest).

(on parle des vacances) (they talk about vacation)

M. Dubois – Allez-vous à la campagne ou à la mer cet été?
(are you going to the country or to the sea-side this summer?)

M. Moreau – Je ne sais pas encore, mais je voudrais du soleil. (I don’t know yet, but I would like some sun)

M. Dubois – Allez dans le Midi. (*) (go to the South of France)
Il y fait chaud et sec (It’s warm and dry there).

M. Moreau – Oui, mais ma femme n’aime pas la chaleur (yes, but my wife does not like the heat)

M. Dubois – Alors choisissez l’Atlantique (then, chose the Atlantic coast)
Il y fait beau et frais (it’s clear and cool there).

Note : Southeastern France is often referred to as “Le Midi”. It can also be called “la côte d’Azur” or “La Riviera”.

Mais en décembre, on attend Le Père Noel (but in December, one awaits Santa Claus).
