Where to Stay at Charles de Gaulle Airport: INNSiDE by Melia Opens in France
Spanish hotel chain INNSiDE by Melia has opened its first address in France with the launch of a new property at Paris’s international Charles de Gaulle airport. To offer those flying in and out of Paris a more stylish stay than the usual airport hotel, the brand has tapped renowned designer Jean-Philippe Nuel, fresh from his recent success with a new 5-star property by the Champs-Élysées. (La Clef Champs-Élysées Paris is housed in a former hôtel particulier built by the Hennessy family in 1907.) Health, wellness, and relaxation are at the heart of INNSiDE CDG, helping to ease the stress of traveling for guests and provide a space which can actually be enjoyed rather than simply to rest the head in-between flights. To realize this, Nuel has opted for an open-plan design which invokes a feeling of freedom and invites guests to move around the hotel, whether dining at Mediterranean restaurant Olivine, enjoying the large outdoor terrace, or hitting the 24-hour gym. Nuel has also brought his signature contemporary style to the hotel through the use of natural, raw materials such as wood and concrete, while other notable design features include the contemporary glass bar in the cocktail lounge and large armchairs designed by the Parisian design studio Bouroullec brothers. Outside, the bold exterior has been imagined by Parisian architects SCAU. The 266 rooms and 10 lofts have been furnished in shades of grey and white with pared-back furniture, minimalist light fittings, curved mirrors and organic cotton linens and towels for a touch of comfort. Some rooms also boast a view directly onto the runway, but all are fully soundproofed to keep out airport noise and ensure a peaceful night’s sleep before take off. Rates start at around 110€. The hotel is situated directly at the airport and access to all the terminals is assured by shuttle. For more information visit www.melia.com.
