Ora Farmhouse in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont
Imagine finding a bucolic house in a Paris park, where you’re greeted by a welcoming host, and seated for a vegetarian meal. The decorations bring to mind a quiet rural home, with birds, flowers, and vegetables adorning the rustic interior. Each room is lit by candles.
This is the experience that awaits you at Ora Farmhouse, formerly a restaurant in the 10th arrondissement and now located in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in the 19th arrondissement. There used to be a different resto on this site in the park, and it’s been under renovation as the new management transforms it into a veritable country home. Most of the construction is now complete, and Ora Farmhouse opened this past summer to great success, particularly among Paris’s vegetarian population.

Ora Farmhouse offers a country escape without leaving the boundaries of Paris. Designed by Dior designer Cordelia de Castellane, Ora features rustic paintings, wooden tables, and upcycled, recycled, or artisanal decorations.
While Ora markets itself as a “flexitarian” restaurant, their seasonal menu is geared toward vegetarians. A flexitarian diet encourages eating mostly vegetarian food, with meat and fish in moderation, in order to have a more eco-responsible and sustainable lifestyle. This is why, in addition to their vegetarian menu, Ora offers select meat and fish options “on the side.” Ora sources all their ingredients locally, along the shortest possible route (i.e. no airplanes).
There are several parts to the farmhouse, as it stands three stories tall and has a small attic space. On the ground floor, Ora’s restaurant offers a unique dining experience and a large selection of cocktails, homemade juices and detoxes, soft drinks, and more at their full-service bar.

On the first floor, a large space is dedicated to events such as wedding receptions, company get-togethers, reunions, and festive events. In addition, the first floor has its own bar and a reception area with couches for those who want to sip and relax. A terrace extends out from the first floor with additional tables and couches, and it overlooks the vegetable garden, where Ora grows some of their own vegetables and composts their organic waste.
On the second floor, “le Grenier” offers an intimate gathering space and bar for smaller groups, and it features a brand-new karaoke machine. This area was the most recently renovated, so it’s not yet officially open for reservations, but it will soon be used for private events.
In the attic space, which is still under construction, Ora plans to install a couch and some tables to create a warm and intimate setting for those who prefer to relax, drink, and chat away from the hubbub of the restaurant and bar.
The Ora Farmhouse experience extends outside, with gorgeous views of the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. The large outdoor terrace is part of the main restaurant, and the picnic tables of “la Guinguette” offer a more casual environment. While the Guinguette is a summertime bar, it’s open year-round, and the menu, like that of the restaurant, evolves seasonally. For the winter months, they generally offer hot chocolate, crêpes, and hot wine. During the summer, they offer a more picnic-like menu, with items like sandwiches, juices, and ice cream.
Despite its recent renovations, Ora has already established itself as a festive and sustainable restaurant for vegetarians and omnivores alike. They hosted a successful Halloween party in October and will host a New Year’s Eve party on December 31st. While Ora is partly a formal restaurant and bar, it’s also a fun space that encourages dancing, socializing, and having a good time.
