I recently took this photo at le Parc de Belleville, the lesser-known neighbor of le Parc des Buttes Chaumont. It’s the highest park in Paris, and a great place to get a panoramic view of the city. A long waterfall fountain cascades alongside the steps down the hill, and at it’s top is the Maison de l’Air, a museum about fresh air and environmentalism. The hillside used to be home to masons who would work on Haussmann’s construction projects. Their houses lined the stairs of the current park (seen here), giving the area a Montmartre-like atmosphere.
