Le Meurice Opens its First Pastry Boutique with Cédric Grolet

Foodies might need to form an orderly queue this Tuesday, as Le Meurice reveals the opening of a new patisserie with its award-winning pastry chef Cédric Grolet. Located just minutes from Le Meurice in the 1st arrondissement, the new boutique will showcase Grolet’s stunning creations for the first time and give customers the chance to take home and enjoy one of chef’s famous desserts.

As well as his signature trompe-l’œil sculpted fruits, customers can also now stop buy to pick up and take-away freshly-baked madeleines, cookies, brioche dough Bundt cakes and more, all presented in an ultra-modern interior which contrasts with the Le Meurice’s own palatial style. Grolet will also be revealing some of the magic behind his unique desserts; one of the boutique’s pastry chefs will be on hand each day to reveal key stages in the making of certain pastries, with raw materials also on display to show off some of the chef’s secret ingredients.

But perhaps the most important thing to know: there will only be a limited number of Grolet’s creations available each day. So if you’re looking for something for goûter, don’t leave it too late – the boutique will close after the last lucky customer has snapped up the final dessert. However, if you’re planning a special occasion, desserts for up to eight people will be available to order for a later date with 48 hours’ notice. The only problem is, this does mean you’ll have to share…

Le Meurice’s Pastry Boutique by Cédric Grolet, 6 Rue de Castiglione, 75001 Paris. Open Tuesday to Sunday starting at noon.
