I Love! PIERRE HERMÉ X JULIE SERRE

Pierre Hermé explores love for this collection, a collaboration with illustrator Julie Serre. Between fantasy, dreamlike imagery, and storytelling, we’re swept away by the fine, precise lines of the drawings, where each element comes together in an abstract, abundant, and intriguing composition.

A – I – M – E.

Letters are scattered like a puzzle to be solved. Once assembled, they form a simple, essential, immediate word: LOVE.  “Surrealist interpretation blurs the lines between dreams and reality. I love the idea of losing oneself in a drawing, giving free rein to the imagination,” says Pierre Hermé. Intriguing!

Monsieur Bassano

Just like the phoenix, Christophe Leroy always rises! He was expected at Renoma Gallery (temporarily shut) where he was to revive the concept of “home cooking.” He was, for a time, chez Monoprix, Champs-Élysées, running a pop-up resto. Leroy, King of Saint-Tropez during the Bistrot du Marché era, then cooked in Gassin at the magnificent Bertaud-Bélieu estate (where the organic rosé wine is addictive!) and at La Messardière, where he catered Johnny and Laeticia’s wedding. Remember he was in Paris during the time of his Terrasse de l’Hôtel Marignan? Stirring controversy during lockdown with his “Leroy Business Club,” subsequently returning to his roots organizing Saint-Tropez private dinners.

Today, happily, Leroy’s back in Paris, on rue Bassano, in the former Les Frisheurs. Expect a chic bistro setting, the bar decorated with souvenir photos evoking 1980s Saint-Tropez “Monsieur Bassano”. Order traditional cuisine meticulously prepped using seasonal ingredients: Burgundy snails, live langoustines, homemade duck foie gras, yummy truffle tartines poised alongside scallops with herb butter, lobster spaghetti, and Norman ribeye steak.

And, as one Leroy leads to another, Christophe is about to take over “Pleine Terre,” Jimmy Desrivières’ restaurant just across the rue, to become a steakhouse. Watch this space!
