Winter in Montmartre

Winter in Montmartre. ©Clay McLachlan Earlier this week I hopped the Métro to go visit the hilltop district of Montmartre in the 18th Arrondissement. I wandered the cobblestone streets, looking for photos that are less obvious than what we are used to seeing. It was a clear late January morning; and there were still many tourists braving the cold to get a glimpse of the Sacré-Coeur and its imposing view: the rooftops of Paris stretching off nearly as far as the eye can see. As I walked away from this impressive landscape I turned around with the Sacré-Coeur on my left and noticed the beautiful light streaming past the church. The red jacket on the woman crossing the street with the sun glinting off the cobblestones completes the image by giving it scale. It is wonderful to wander in Paris. Even if I feel like I have seen it all before, I never get fatigued of exploring every angle of the city. Technical Details: Canon 5D Mark II, ISO 100, F 4, Shutter Speed 1/400, 16mm lens.
