Sun Over Passy Métro Station
Blazing autumn sun greeted me one recent morning as I walked along the Boulevard de Grenelle in search of a cafe to sit and read. As I passed the Bir Hakeim métro stop, I decided I would continue along one of my favorite river crossings in Paris from the 15th Arrondissement over and up the hill to the Passy neighborhood of the 16th Arrondissement. Walking among the small streets right near the river in the 16th I was taken away from typical flat Parisian paradise and could imagine that I might be walking through the streets of a port city along the Mediterranean such as Genova or Napoli. I walked up the stairs past the Passy métro and turned around when I arrived at the top and was nearly blinded by the bright sunshine. I love this view of the approaching number 6 métro as it heads into Passy station with views of iconic Parisian architecture on either side. Camera details: I photographed this image with a Canon 5D Mark II using a 45mm fixed focus tilt/shift lens at ISO 100, shutter speed of 1/250, and an aperture of F 10. I am a trained journalist and so it is necessary to point out that I never manipulate images past the point of what I could have done in a traditional darkroom.
