Strasbourg Restaurant : L’Osteria

Restaurant : L’Osteria   L’Osteria is an Italian restaurant famous for its Panzerotti, served exclusively for dinner. A Panzerotti, if you do not know, is like a double pizza – one over the other. Inside, it is loaded with lots of Italian cheese (Mozzarella) and tomatoes. Served very hot, it is fun to eat and a specialty you won’t find in another restaurant of Strasbourg. Besides that, all the pizzas are made with Italian ingredients which make them very tasty and very different from many other “pseudo” Italian restaurants. You will also be able to enjoy a very large range of Italian wines and the waiters are always very helpful with choosing the best one to accompany your meal.   INFORMATION:L’Osteria11, quai des Pêcheurs 67 000 Strasbourgfrom US: 011 (33) 3 88 37 31 37from France: 03 88 37 31 37Hours: 11 am to 2 pm and 7 pm to 11 pm.Closed on Sunday Price: from 14 to 25 euros.   Reservations recommended, especially for dinnerSmoking   Restaurant : Trattoria Da Giovanni Picture it – a very crowded street in Strasbourg, close to the famous Eglise Saint Thomas, and there you find a cozy restaurant with just a handful of tables. Trattoria Da Giovanni is especially famous for its Italian specialties, with the exception of the pizzas which are very common. Many of the dishes are baked pastas traditionally prepared. Personally, I recommend the lasagnas. You would be hard-pressed to find a better one in Strasbourg. Their lasagna arrives on a huge plate, steaming hot, the sausages still boiling in the sauce. You would have to be very hungry to finish this plate. This dish offers more meat than pasta and they don’t skimp on the parmesan, either. Highly recommended. As in every Italian restaurant, wine from the country is served in glasses, pitchers, or bottles.   INFORMATION:Trattoria Da Giovanni1, place Saint Thomas 67 000 Strasbourgfrom US: 011 (33) 3 88 22 20 99from France: 03 88 22 20 99from France: 03 88 37 31 37Hours: 11 am to 2 pm and 7 pm to 11 pm.Closed on Sunday every two weeksPrice: from 15 to 30 euros   Reservations recommended, especially for dinnerSmoking   Event : Quai aux Arts One week-end every month, at the Place Broglie, the independent artists of Stasbourg have an opportunity to exhibit their work to the public, and you have a chance to see what’s new in the art community. It’s a great place for a leisurely stroll among the sculptures, paintings, and photographs displayed throughout the tree-lined Place Broglie.  The mediums and styles are very diverse offering a little something for everyone. Works are for sale but you can also just enjoy browsing this free exhibition. I go each month to get a glimpse of the new work of my favorite artists. It’s an event not to miss if you are in Strasbourg for the weekend.   INFORMATION:Quai aux ArtsPlace Broglie 67 000 StrasbourgFrom 9 am to 5 pm one weekend every month Website : www.placedesarts.net
