It’s usually about this time during winter that I start dreaming of warm weather and all the bounty of the season that comes with long summer days. This is a photo of a perfectly ripe red tomato to lift us from the cold weather and remind ourselves that spring and summer will be here soon. I have done a series of these images that are based on food and primary colors. I enjoy creating bold colors such as this: a red tomato, a red bowl, and a blue bowl. Design and lighting are critical in photography and learning how to visualize how light will affect your photography can have a profound effect on what can seem to be the most mundane of subjects.
Technical Details – Hasselblad 501c, 80mm lens, F 8, 1/250 shutter speed, Fujichrome ASA 100.
