Les Arènes d’Arles is a Roman amphitheater that dates from 90 AD. It is situated in the southern town of Arles, and was once capable of seating 20,000 people in its two tiers. It measures 446 ft long by 358 ft wide and has 120 arches. Chariot races and hand to hand battles were once the entertainment that took place there. Today, it’s known for bullfights during the Feria d’Arles, which takes place twice a year, once in September and once in April.
