Elective: It’s Never Too Late to Study Abroad

Women in Paris is a week-long course, running June 22-29, that explores Paris through the lives, work, and influence of the women who have shaped it. From literary salons to artist studios, from historic figures to contemporary voices, it offers a fresh perspective on Paris through the lens of the women who have left their mark on its cultural and intellectual life.

The program is part of Elective Study Abroad, a new initiative that reimagines study abroad for adults. Founded by longtime Paris resident Carrie Angoff, Elective is built on the idea that it’s never too late to study abroad. Education isn’t confined to classrooms or bound by age, and some of the most meaningful learning happens when we engage with ideas in the places that shape them.

Each morning, a Field Seminar led by a local expert introduces key themes and figures, providing a foundation for deeper discovery. Afternoons are left open for Self-Guided Study, allowing participants to pursue the aspects of Paris that interest them most within the framework of the course. Whether it’s tracing the footsteps of writers, exploring women-led art spaces, or uncovering overlooked stories embedded in the city’s architecture, this is a way to get to know Paris more deeply, guided by a local instructor who provides unparalleled access, context, and insight.

With a small cohort and an intimate learning environment, this is an opportunity to engage with the city in a way that goes beyond the familiar. A discount is offered for two people attending together, but limited spaces are available.
