BEGINNERS FRENCH LESSON NO. 4End of Unit 1 – A bit of grammar and more drills To practice the different persons of the verbs “to be”, “to have” “to go”, “to know” “to say” and “to repeat”, in the present tense. Verbe être (to be)Je suis, tu es, il est, elle est, nous sommes, vous êtes, ils sont, elles sont. Verbe avoir (to have) J’ai, tu as, il/elle a, nous avons, vous avez, ils/elles ont. Verbe aller (to go)Je vais, tu vas, il/elle va, nous allons, vous allez, ils/elles vont. Verbe savoir (to know something)Je sais, tu sais, il/elle sait, nous savons, vous savez, ils/elles savent. Verbe dire (to tell)Je dis, tu dis, il/elle dit, nous disons, vous dites, ils/elles disent. The first time, the teacher gives the cue, and types the sentence as a model.The second time, the teacher gives the cue, and the students must put in the right form of the verb in the complete sentence. RESPONSE DRILL (These are not questions, but requests and answers to the requests – Same as above: do this exercise twice, providing the answer the first time, and expecting the students to provide the answer the second time) R Dites-moi que votre soeur est malade (Tell me that your sister is sick)A Ma soeur est malade (my sister is sick) R Dites à M. Durant qu’il va déjeuner au restaurant avec vous. (tell Mr. Durant that he is going to have lunch at a restaurant with you)A M.
