To really get an insider’s view into a city, there’s nothing like renting a home away from home and these seven Paris apartment rental options are perfect whether you’re coming to Paris on a business trip, a romantic getaway, a break with friends or a family holiday.
Led by American-born Erica Berman, the Haven in Paris team provides a bespoke service in finding the right studio, authentic luxury villa, townhouse or penthouse apartment to suit wide-ranging types of travellers. HIP also ensures a concierge is on hand for the duration of guests’ stay, whether they need to hire a babysitter, find a cooking course or organise a private dinner. The agency’s portfolio has also recently been expanded to Provence in France, London and Tuscany in Italy.
One Fine Stay might be a London based company that operates in London, New York and Los Angeles, but that doesn’t mean it neglects its offer of apartments in the French capital – quite the contrary. Hosts have to become a member of OFS, and while they are away, they rent out their homes, which can range from a renovated artist’s studio apartment to a large family home with a view of the Eiffel Tower, giving guests a chance to experience Parisian life first-hand in the comfort of a fully equipped home.
As the name suggests, this option provides visitors with a choice of lodgings in the bohemian chic neighbourhood of Saint-Germain-des-Près for up to six guests at once. On offer is a studio, a duplex, several apartments and even a house, all in the bustling city centre. Every property is decorated in neutral hues and comes with comfortable furniture and quality linens as well as all the mod-cons from flat screen televisions to dishwashers.
Before the five-star La Réserve hotel and spa opened in Paris, after the popular Ramatuelle hotel on the French Riviera, there was La Réserve apartments set inside a Belle Epoque townhouse on Place du Trocadéro, as close to the Eiffel Tower as it gets. While the hotel has a lavish 19th century style, the apartments are contemporary, spacious and bright. Each apartment is tastefully decorated in opulent fabrics and carpets, natural materials and a soothing colour palette of luxurious creams, greys and petrol blues. The accommodations range from 140m2 to 200m2 in size, some of which come with Eiffel Tower views or outdoor patios.
For fans of the Champs Elysées there’s just no better place to stay than at the Claridge’s Fraser Suites that sit right above the bustling artery. Housed in a 19th century building literally on the Champs Elysées (check the address for the Champs Elysées mention). The apartments include studios that sleep two guests to three-bedroom flats that sleep a maximum of six. All are in a contemporary hotel style in neutral hues with French doors that open onto a balcony looking out onto the most famous street in the world.
For something ultra exclusive, rent one of the three apartments designed by the French-Tunisian haute couturier Azzedine Alaïa and Carla Sozzani, following their collaboration on 10 Corso Como, the upscale hybrid gallery in Milan. Located in the bohemian-chic Marais neighbourhood, the spacious and bright apartments resemble Berlin lofts dotted with items of furniture from the couturier’s own collection including Marc Newson chairs and Jean Prouvé tables.
Résidence Nell also has a sister boutique hotel, which although is just as sleek isn’t to be confused with the apartments of which there are 17 in total. Completely designed by Patrick Jouin of design duo Jouin-Manku, the simple and tasteful grey interiors are soothing and hushed, making guests feel at home right away. The lodgings vary from a studio to barrier-free accommodations for guests in wheelchairs for instance. Extremely comfortable and brimming with Parisian charm, this option is a real treat even just for a night in the city.
