5 Unique Valentine’s Day Ideas in Paris (not Just for Couples)

Unique Valentine’s Day ideas can feel hard to come by, but luckily, the City of Love does not disappoint when it comes to romantic and fun outings. If you’re looking for something out-of-the-box to celebrate Valentine’s Day, whether with a partner or a group of friends, we’ve got you covered with five unique ideas for Valentine’s in Paris.

1. Immerse Yourself at an Ephemera Restaurant

The Ephemera Group, a rising star of the Paris food industry, has recently become famous for their immersive restaurants. This Valentine’s Day, enjoy an immersive dinner at one of their themed restaurants, such as Under the Sea, which takes you into the depths of the ocean during a diving expedition, or Stellar, which transports you into outer space. Their menus are vegetarian-friendly, and each Ephemera restaurant takes inspiration from different cuisines around the world. Four immersive restaurants are located in different areas of Paris for a Valentine’s dinner unlike any other.

2. Celebrate an Underwater Valentine’s at the Aquarium de Paris

Head to the Aquarium de Paris in the 16th arrondissement for their annual Valentine’s Day program. They promise a magical, unforgettable night as the aquarium is transformed into one of Paris’s most romantic spots. Stroll through the awe-inspiring aquarium, visit the Médusarium — the largest exhibition of jellyfish in Europe — watch a fantastical performance from Claire the Mermaid, and learn more about the aquarium’s sea denizens during educational presentations. After visiting the aquarium, enjoy dinner in their restaurant, with breathtaking views of the marine life. Reservations are required.

3. Enjoy Drinks with a View at TOO Restaurant

Situated within the new TOO Hotel in the 13th arrondissement, the TOO Restaurant and rooftop TacTac Skybar offer a panoramic view of Paris, with landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, and Sacré-Cœur easily seen from the restaurant’s grand windows. Enjoy the sights from the 25th floor (restaurant) and 27th floor (rooftop bar) while feeling as if you’re in the clouds. Both the restaurant and rooftop bar offer a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and each includes a special Valentine’s Day menu. Chic and elegant outfits required!

4. Visit the Fontainebleau Castle and Forest

Take a day or weekend trip about an hour outside of Paris to the serene town of Fontainebleau. Easily accessible by train, Fontainebleau is a great place to visit for groups on a budget or for people who enjoy the outdoors. Bring along a picnic and go for a hike in the forest, or explore the halls and gardens of the sprawling Château de Fontainebleau. If you’re a fan of rock climbing or bouldering, bring your climbing shoes and mat and enjoy the many natural climbing spots in the forest. This quaint town is an ideal Valentine’s getaway for friends, families, and couples alike.

5. Relax during a Romantic Escape at the Hôtel Saint James

Located on the edge of the 16th arrondissement near the Bois de Boulogne, the Hôtel Saint James provides a bucolic and intimate environment filled with greenery and neoclassic décor. Originally, the hotel was a 19th-century hôtel particulier and foundation which supported and housed students; today, the Saint James is both a grand hotel and luxury social club. For an even more romantic stay, book a private pavilion, apartment, or villa near the hotel, or take advantage of Saint James’s annual Valentine’s Day offer on their Junior Suites and Suites. As a plus, Saint James has received many environmental accolades, including the Clef Verte (Green Key) label, the Ecotable certification for their restaurant, and a Michelin Étoile Verte (Green Star).
