July 2025 Restaurant News: Where to Eat in Paris
“Cooking is a love story: fall in love with the products – then with the people who make them.” – Alain Ducasse (21 Michelin stars)
It’s rosé wine time. Château Léoube belonging to the Bamford family since 1997, are celebrated among wine aficionados for their commitment to organic and sustainable farming. Fourth-generation winemaker Romain Ott oversees Léoube’s winemaking. Ice cubes? Yes, but they may dull the flavor! Perfect with a chunk of Tarte Tropezienne, celebrating 70 years of deliciousness. Bonnes Vacances!
Meanwhile back in Paris… Here’s a selection of restaurants I recommend this month.
La Poule au Pot at 90
Bravo! The charismatic Parisian bistro recently celebrated this impressive birthday event at Le Gratin NYC with a four-hand dinner cooked by their friend, chef Daniel Boulud (Gratin’s owner) and Jean-François Piège. Why NYC? “Why not?” said the chefs in unison.
As you know Piège (and his wife Elodie) acquired Poule au Pot in 2018, giving it a new look without spoiling the unique antique atmosphere. Enjoy the signature “La Veritable Poule au Pot” (since 1935 – chicken in the pot), served with sauce Poulette (€48pp). But start with the mixed hors d’oeuvres starter (€29) and save space for the Chariot des Desserts (€25).
Launched in NYC, La Poule au Pot’s English-language cookbook My French Cuisine at La Poule au Pot includes 100 delicious recipes (€25).

Le Camondo
This chic address, an olive stone’s throw from Parc Monceau, is set in the former carriage house of the elegant Nissim de Camondo mansion. (Note that the musée is closed temporarily.)
Camondo cuisine revisits bistro classics with a contemporary twist. Head bartender Samy Bodas’ signature cocktails and mocktails (from €14) add joy, as does his choice of wines. And now, an exciting new chapter opens, with a series of unique experiences blending culture, creativity, and cuisine.
Check out “Les Jeudis Astro” when an astrologer reads your birth chart and Samy mixes a zodiac related cocktail. On July 18th, chefs Fanny Herpin and Mehdi Boucenna invite you into their kitchen! They’ll be joined by Tania Cadeddu (a candidate on Top Chef) and Mateo Lattore. For sweet treats, the dessert menu’s by Christophe Michalak.

Le Grand Café – Le Grand Palais
The cuisine and location are unique – here’s the traditional French kitchen updated, with simply prepared fresh ingredients and light sauces, beneath the imposing Grand Palais columns. The menu’s markers of modernity include raw fish and fabulous tomato tart – a wink to Mediterranean cuisine. Benoît Dargère, Loulou Group’s executive chef, emerges from the kitchen to explain: “French cuisine, its ingredients and techniques evolve within the tradition of cuisine bourgeoise, that’s the ambition appropriate to this café.” There’s also salmon and sorrel and potato salad that Dargère describes as “mother’s cuisine.” Don’t ignore the millefeuille dessert! The décor’s signed by architect Joseph Dirand who renovated Le Flandrin, Loulou Paris, Monsieur Bleu and Girafe.

Brass
This new address is a welcome addition to the Left Bank. The menu mixes authentic brasserie cuisine with a few standards with Americana vibes. Here’s a sampling: bone marrow toast; fried squid, leek vinaigrette and asparagus mousseline; French onion soup gratin; six large snails; sea bass tartare with lobster fries; the essential croque-monsieur. There’s also a club sandwich, French style Mac & Cheese, and New York L-Bone steak with a Château Béarnaise sauce. Desserts run the gamut from chocolate soufflé to Eton Mess studded with red berries. The weekly menu (€25) offers delicious dishes such as Thursday’s navarin, and Sunday’s roast chicken. Starters from €8. Mains from €19. Desserts from €9. “Bold as Brass!”

Buenas
You know how Spanish speakers say “buenas”? Their way to bid “good morning,” “good afternoon,” or “good evening”? Well, the recently launched buenas (little b!), a bar/restaurant/tapas restaurant by Toufik Seddik, imports all the richness of Iberian culinary culture via traditional recipes and an ambiance worthy of your favorite Almodovar film (The Room Next Door?)
“I worked with Costes hotel group, then for 10 years with the Daroco group. I wanted to create my own version of Spanish cuisine – home-cooked food like in my childhood. When the opportunity came to open my own address, I decided to pay homage to Spain and the cuisine I love. It’s not showcased enough in France!” says Seddik.
On the menu: freshly made tortilla, croquetas, bocadillos or the unmissable churros con chocolate! At lunch, in addition to the tapas menu, buenas recently launched its weekly menu, showcasing gourmet and traditional recipes. We love the famous paella mixta served on Wednesday lunchtimes! A daily special is offered at €16. Saludos!

Restaurant Irwin
Between Place Saint Augustin and rue Miromesnil, launched in April by talented chef Irwin Durand, this place should definitely be added to your resto list. Chef Durand has cooked in prestigious establishments with great chefs: L’Oustau de Baumanière, Joël Robuchon, Bernard Loiseau, Yannick Alléno at Le Pavillon Ledoyen and Guy Savoy at the Hôtel de la Monnaie, then at Guy Savoy’s restaurant Le Chiberta, with whom he took over Le Petit Rétro. And Durand garnered a Michelin star at Alan Geaam’s gourmet rue Lauriston (16th) restaurant. On the sweet side, pastry chef Tessa Ponzo, driven by her strong creativity, creates divine desserts. Tessa’s mantra: “respect the raw to provoke emotion.”

Daimant – Saint-Honoré
With this fab address, the beautiful creative director/cook/restaurant owner Alice Tuyet continues to bring a plant-based twist to cuisine bourgeoise. Alice’s second boldly decorated resto features house classics – dirty (not!) croquettes – as well as fragrant rotisserie-grilled vegetables. At Daimant Saint-Honoré, chef Erwan Crier and his team, passionate about gastronomic research, transform plants into new taste experiences while respecting culinary bistro heritage.
Book the chic terrace on the Place du Marché Saint-Honoré. It’s “open-air theater” where you’ll savor creative plant-based vegan cuisine: Seaweed caviar, blinis, raw cream, dill (€15); English Breakfast plate of creamy tofu scramble, braised white beans, Paris mushrooms, spinach confit, cherry tomatoes, English muffin (€20); Roast cauliflower (€21), and more. Save room for the Chocolate Mousse Bar (€15).
Beneath the blue (we hope) Parisian sky, 30 places are set on the terrace: elegant, with delicate aromas of organic vegetables roasting, and the rustle of conversation. Here’s where you’ll enjoy a leisurely lunch or strike a pose with a Red Star Martini cocktail (€14) at the day’s end, or meet for a romantic candle lit dinner…
“Save the planet – but make it saucy,” Alice suggests.

Mariage Frères
Mariage Frères, specialist tea emporium in the Marais district of Paris since 1854, was launched by brothers Henri and Edouard Mariage. Its exceptional reputation, gourmet products and unique Cuisine au Thé concept has created an iconic French brand adored by fashion houses, supermodels and celebrities. It’s the haute couture of the tea world, the essence of French je ne sais quoi – if you need a gift for a “teaophile” friend head to their website or one of their boutiques. The mousseline sachet T-bags are genius!
Discover Mariage Collections in Paris, London and worldwide. Try the tantalizing dotted tea ice cream sandwich – with a glass of Summer Rosé iced tea, bien sûr. Drizzled with raspberry hibiscus caramel, the pink/white tea sorbet reveals notes of red fruits, grapes, and pomegranate, invigorated with accents of bergamot. Tucked between two delicious slices of Genoise cake. Chic!

Scone with the wind
In June, La Liste awarded the prize “World’s Best Afternoon Tea” to pastry cheffe Jessica Préalpato for her tea-time at L’Hôtel San Régis (Small Luxury Hotels) Paris. The 30-something former head pastry chef at the Plaza Athenée, explains that she’s an innovator of less sweet, less fatty patisserie. “Desseralité is a mixture of dessert and naturalité,” says Préalpato. With this prestigious new award, La Liste salutes the art of a unique cheffe – recently named Knight of the National Order of Merit by the Ministry of Agriculture: “Jessica captivates with her pure, creative techniques such as barbecued lemon, roasted barley, using soy milk, hazelnut tart, fondant au chocolat – and scones!”
