April 2025 Restaurant Buzz: Where to Eat in Paris
You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” – Maya Angelou
Spring has sprung, and with it, we’ve got lots of Paris food news to report. Here are some recommended restaurants to try this season.
Prunier by Yannick Alléno
“Ceci n’est pas du caviar.” (This is not caviar.) To celebrate spring, Prunier by Yannick Alléno is serving a trompe-l’oeil floating island dessert that’s daring and sexy. Together, chefs Alléno and Hendry Angwe-Mezah invent sublime seafood dishes. This unique delight is presented in an authentic Prunier caviar box, covered with a hundred small black beads. Dip in and discover a delicate layer of vanilla caviar concealing an airy whipped egg white mousse. Mix directly with the crème anglaise presented in the sauceboat, a nod and wink to chef Alléno’s saucier expertise. Priced at €28 for two people sharing.
Yannick Alléno is one of the greatest French chefs in the world. In 2008, he founded the eponymous group that bears his name. Today there are 19 establishments with 15 Michelin stars. Impressive!
Alléno’s modern cuisine is inspired by Auguste Escoffier. In 2014, he took over Le Pavillon Ledoyen, where he created three restaurant concepts: the Michelin three-star gourmet restaurant Alléno Paris; the two-star sushi counter, L’Abysse; and the one-star gourmet counter, Pavyllon.

Thiou
Discover this gem in the heart of the recently opened Hotel Norman. It is named after its cheffe who has changed addresses (formerly at the Boulevard de la Tour Maubourg, 7th). The joyful spirit remains, as do the menu essentials, skillfully combining classic Thai cuisine with market fresh French products.
Cheffe Apiradee Thirakomen, “call me Thiou”, was born in Thailand, the piano brought her to France, and cooking made her stay. Les Bains Douches, where she learned her trade, “gave me a taste for celebration.”
On the menu, you’ll find revisited Thai cuisine, inspired by French recipes and products. A total of 10 starters, 10 main courses and eight desserts evolve over time and with the seasons. Signature dishes include Langoustine Spring Rolls, Shrimp Ravioli, and Crying Tiger, a trimmed, marinated, and grilled sirloin steak served with carrot and papaya salad and a secret recipe sauce. Enjoy these elegant dishes in the cozy dining room or on the shady patio.
Admire the contemporary decor by Thomas Vidalenc. The bar’s chic yet relaxed atmosphere makes it a popular space for after-work drinks during the week and on weekends. Enjoy the Thai-influenced tapas menu and Asian-inspired cocktails.

Rose Bakery’s new book
In the new book Breakfast, Lunch, Tea with Children, discover 50 delicious recipes by Rose Carrarini, founder and cheffe of Rose Bakery restaurants. “I wanted to write a book for families that answers the question, ‘how to cook with children’ and which, at the same time, offers an offbeat look at the way we talk about food and how it allows us to communicate,” explains Ms Carrarini in the introduction to this lovely book written with her daughter, Marissa-Catherine Carrarini.
Rose is author of the bestselling Breakfast, Lunch, Tea (2007) and How to Cook an Egg (2013). The latest publication covers a whole day of treats, from breakfast to dinner, including lunch and snacks. Whether it’s beetroot and apple salad or cream puffs, the book recreates Rose Bakery chez vous.
After working in the fashion industry for 10 years, Rose Carrarini founded Rose Bakery on Rue des Martyrs, with her husband Jean-Charles. Since 2002, the iconic Rose Bakery, which now has several locations in Paris, as well as in the UK, USA and Japan, has featured healthy and simple cuisine, inspired by British, French, American and Japanese dishes. With this book, Ms Carrarini invites adults to accompany children’s first steps in the kitchen and discover the simple pleasure of cooking together, as she does with her grandchildren.
