‘We are Family’ – Photoquai Photography Biennale

For its 5th edition, the PHOTOQUAI photography biennale, under the auspices of the Musée du Quai Branly, settles on the banks of the Seine and on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower for a two-month period, to present the unpublished works of 40 non-European photographers.

“This is not an exhibition about family photos,” says Stéphane Martin, President of the Quai Branly Museum ” what this year’s artists are showing here on the banks of the Seine is rather the urge – on the part of people from similar religious, cultural or historical backgrounds – to come together as a community, to testify to their like-mindedness and their aspiration to a shared way of life. This is a trend that has found current expression in the term “founding a family”.
