Event Description
The exhibition retraces the main moments of the career of this major master. Presenting around 40 paintings, divided into three ‘chapters’ the exhibit looks at the three key stages in Rembrandt’s creation, allowing the viewer to clearly grasp the evolution of this painter that dominated Dutch art in the 17th century.
The first part centres around the Pilgrims at Emmaüs, in the Leyde period (1625-1631), the second on his triumphant years in Amsterdam (1631-1635) and finally his later work (1652-1669) considered to be his creative summit, breaking away from established contemporary norms towards a simplification or colour and form.
