Primeval Waters, Lessons from Mesopotamia at the Louvre

Event Description

Following a summer of heat waves and drought across Europe, the Louvre’s meditation on water, as both life-giver and destroyer, feels more timely than ever. “Primeval Waters: Lessons from Mesopotamia” offers a reinterpretation of the museum’s Near Eastern antiquities. Dedicated to the fundamental importance of water in Mesopotamia, the ancient land where irrigation was first invented and developed, the exhibition focuses on this essential resource and prompts environmental reflection on these vestiges of the past and their contemporary echoes.
