The Musée d’Orsay is celebrating 150 years of the first Impressionist show. To quote the museum: “Monet, Renoir, Degas, Morisot, Pissarro, Sisley and Cézanne finally decided to free themselves from the rules by holding their own exhibition, outside official channels: Impressionism was born.” For this celebratory exhibit, the museum is showcasing 130 works that offer a fresh look at a key date that changed the course of art history.
