Event Description

This exhibition organised in partnership with the Musée des Beaux-Arts d’Ajaccio, centres on the specially restored bivouac used by Napoleon, and demonstrates the ingenuity of his craftsmen and the splendour of the imperial objects.

The event Le Garde-Meuble en voyage, luxe et ingéniosité du bivouac de Napoléon has scientific importance, bringing together camping equipment including sleeping, eating, grooming, and working items, contextual documents, and visual elements (including five major history paintings by Mongin, Lejeune and Roehn) that offer an exhaustive vision of life in Napoleon’s bivouac, both in times of victory and defeat.
