A musical start for the summer

Event Details
End: 10th Jun 2017 23:59
The American Cathedral in Paris, Paris, 750081
Event Description
The Paris Choral Society will present the final concert of its season under the dual themes of Fate and Fortune. The concert will open with Brahms’ soulful Schicksalslied (“Song of Fate”), which he set to a poem by Friedrich Hölderlin. It will be followed by a rousing performance of Carmina Burana, whose emotional ode to shifting fortune Orff based on a 13-century manuscript discovered in a Benedictine abbey.
Under the baton of Zachary Ullery, the chorus will be accompanied on piano by Andy Dewar & Mihály Zeke, the percussion section of the Paris Symphonic Orchestra, three soloists and the voices of the American Cathedral Children’s Choir.
The concerts will be held on June 9 (8pm) and June 10 (6pm), at the American Cathedral (23, avenue George V, 75008 Paris). Tickets are available at FNAC and online at parischoralsociety.org (enter the promotion code fnf16 for reduced prices).
