Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the subversive genre known as metal, now nearly 50 years old. The exhibition staged by the Philharmonie de Paris is a first for France: “a documented picture of this movement, where music, popular culture, anthropological vision and contemporary art are in dialogue.” Sub-genres get their share of the spotlight here through rare objects and documents; think “legendary instruments, legendary stage costumes and concerts, and cult iconography.”
