Event Description

Following the President’s address on Monday evening, where large-scale events were banned in France until mid-July as a part of the fight against the spread of COVID-19, the organisers of the Tour de France, in agreement with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), have decided to postpone the Tour de France to Saturday 29th August to Sunday 20th September 2020.

The Tour is the oldest and most prestigious cycling race in the world.

The French department has welcomed the Tour de France 23 times between 1911 (Cherbourg) and 2013 (individual time-trial from Avranches to Mont-Saint-Michel), but it has never hosted the Grand Départ before.

The race typically covers a total distance of 3,4 kilometres to the finish line on the Champs-Elysées in Paris.
