Event Description

The centenary of the birth of Jacques Boussard is an occasion to discover this discreet but highly accomplished painter. He built his own style within the eclectic second School of Paris, which was not so much as an art movement, but rather a recognition of the relevance of Paris as a center of creativity in the first half of the 1900s.

He was ‘attracted by what unites us, more than what separates us‘, his work traversed styles and subjects, finding its way between cubism and fauvism, through landscapes, still lives, and portraits. He gradually stripped off the superfluous in the maturity of his work, moving towards limpid composition and sober gestures.
