Event Description

Situated in a splendid mansion in the Marais district, the Carnavalet Museum is dedicated to the history of Paris, with a fascinating permanent collection. The temporary exhibits are likewise fascinating, such as this original expo on the cutting-edge filmmaker Agnès Varda that takes a fresh look at Varda’s work. It reveals the key part played by the studio in the rue Daguerre (14th arrondissement), where she lived and worked from 1951 until 2019, and more generally- to quote the curators- “the role of Paris in her prolific, free-spirited oeuvre, which never takes the easy way out in its combining of documentary and fiction.”
