Event Description

Dreams Before Dawn Theatre Festival returns to the heart of Paris for its second edition, with an innovative programme packed with a host of exceptional performances, workshops, discussions and live music.

The group behind the event, Bred in the Bone Theatre Laboratory have made the theme for 2016’s edition of the festival ‘Theatre Made in the UK’. The programme will look back at classical British writers and put new writers under the spotlight. This innovative blend of old and new can be seen in Bred in the bone’s Shakespearean inspired trilogy ‘She is Shakespeare: Hamlet, Macbeth and Lear’. Additional performances which utilise classical influences include the not-to-miss ‘Orpheus’ by Nick Borsack and ‘Onwards to Progress ‘by Gabe Manthorp. The closing weekend will see director Simon Usher and collaborator Colin Ellwood working with Shakespearian texts and discussing French influences within contemporary British theatre.

Dreams before dawn will host internationally established young companies bringing with them fantastic poetic theatre and installations. Keep an eye out for performances by fantastic theatre companies Limb2Limb, RL/P and Rory Fosters piece ‘One Woman In Search Of An Author’.

A younger generation of theatre makers are also invited to premiere work for the first time during the festival, catch the Découpage Collective’s ‘Lost Game’, Setesdal’s postmodern ‘Burghafest’ and ‘The Eternal Kiss’ and theatre company Between Teeth’s ‘Perpetual’.

Live music will keep you entertained in between performances, with special guest Chiosan, all the way from Mexico, who will be performing her new album as a light and sound installation. Other acts include Kate Radford, Teardollsheet and up and coming performance artist Charlotte Blackburn.
