Damien Hirst at the Fondation Cartier Paris

In his first museum exhibition in France, the Fondation Cartier invites Damien Hirst to unveil his latest paintings, The Cherry Blossoms, which reference Impressionism and Pointillism. The result of three years’ work in his London studio, the series is part of Hirst’s career-long investigation into painting and his desire to return to the pure immediacy of this element of his practice. “The Cherry Blossoms are about beauty and life and death,” said Hirst. “They’re about desire and how we process the things around us and what we turn them into, but also about the insane visual transience of beauty.”
