The 14th of July marks Bastille Day, the French National Day. It was on the afternoon of this date that French revolutionaries stormed Crown-owned Bastille and set political prisoners free. The main event is the military parade on the Champs-élysées before the current president of the republic, Emmanuel Macron. Throughout the city there will be celebrations and fireworks. Bal des Pompiers (Fireman's Balls) are held in all major fire stations in the evening.
