1. Didier Ludot

A luxe and coveted spot on the Palais Royal, Didier Ludot is an epically stylish shop with luxury clothes and accessories. This internationally acclaimed store is often a go-to for fashionable visitors making their way through the City of Light. It also happens to be in the heart of Paris, and thus ideally situated for some tourist attractions or just a stroll about town.

Didier Ludot is the man behind the eponymous store, and he’s been keeping women chic and fashionable for over 45 years. The New York Times profiled him several years ago, and reports on Ludot’s beginnings and what the catalyst was for creating his infamous and widely adored shop: “Mr. Ludot was so moved in 1971 by Yves Saint Laurent’s famous 1940s-inspired collection — a shocking show at the time because it celebrated fashion of World War II, which the French still saw as a deeply dark period — that he started going to the Paris flea markets and buying simple war-era frocks, which he resold for a small profit to his girlfriends.”

2. La Marelle

This hidden gem in the 2^nd, La Marelle, offers some delicious designer fair. Specializing in womenswear, La Marelle’s emphasis is on recent – rather than “vintage” – secondhand pieces. Here you’ll find recent runway trends in which to flit about in the city. La Marelle says they are a “must-visit for all fashionistas; we do everything we can to help you feel beautiful.” With an endorsement like that, who could resist?

La Marelle has a wide range of enviable stock, with Ready to Wear pieces from Isabel Marant, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Comptoir des Cotonniers, The Kooples; luxury labels found here include Chanel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Balenciaga, Lanvin, Gucci, Prada, Cavalli, Burberry, and more. Notably, La Marelle also carries a large number of Japanese designers as well, expanding from the traditional European fair found in many shops.

4. Citizen Concept Store

Citizen Concept Store is found in the Marais, where you’ll find a great number of chic and enticing clothing shops. On the store’s Facebook page, they regularly feature new items (like this vintage black satin Saint Laurent dress) purchased in their shop or new items that have just hit the shelves, so you can monitor their page and see if anything strikes your fancy.

Be warned, though – fashionistas are hunters; you’ve got to act quickly if you see a piece you love. Wait too long and it may be long gone by the time you walk through the Citizen doorway. Like many museums, Citizen Concept Store is closed on Mondays.

While not a vintage shop, the Hôtel Drouot does have something – well, many things – to whet the fashionista appetite. Twice annually, Hôtel Drouot hosts haute couture auctions.
