The Best Ice Cream Spots in Paris

With the summer heat in full swing, everyone needs a place to go to make the day a little cooler. What better way to escape the heat than with ice cream? Here we’ve rounded up the best shops in Paris to splurge on glace and gelato. We know you’ll love these spots as much as we do.

La Glace Alain Ducasse

Leave it to top chef Alain Ducasse to launch a shop dedicated to “Culinary Gelato.” From flavors like fresh herbs sorbet to Peruvian chocolate ganache, this boutique near Bastille creates artistic flavors that no other place can match. There’s also an online shop for gelato as well as customizable chocolate boxes. The priority is high-quality fresh products that create a gourmet culinary experience.

Bachir

Glace Bachir is the first place in Paris to offer 100% authentic Lebanese ice cream. It originated as a family business in the town of Bikfaya in 1936— after a lifetime of making ice cream at home, the family decided to bring it to the streets of Paris. Situated near the Centre Pompidou, Bachir has been a huge hit since it opened a few years ago, the highly Instagrammable cones drawing the crowds. With a line constantly out the door and around the block, this shop is more than worth the wait. The speciality is (clotted cream) ice cream coated with crushed pistachios. Due to high demand, there’s now a second location in Montmartre.

Berthillon

If you’re searching for the “it” factor, this is your shop. Simply put, Berthillon is an institution on the Île Saint-Louis and you can’t stroll the island without tasting it. One of the most popular ice cream stores in Paris, Berthillon is known for both unique and classic flavors, as well as an iconic atmosphere. You can accompany your ice cream with tea and pastries, and enjoy them all along the river for the best view. We personally recommend the salted butter caramel flavor.

Glaces Glazed

Tailor-made ice cream in small batches, fashioned with high-quality, seasonal ingredients and in flavors developed in a laboratory… Glazed is glaces with a rock n’ roll spirit. You can get your fix at one of two boutique locations (one near the Jardin des Plantes in the 5th, and the other on the foodie street of rue des Martyrs in the 9th). Glazed is also found at top purveyors throughout the city, like the Superfrais epicerie and the Umami Cafe in the 3rd.  What’s more, there’s also a Glazed food truck. At the boutiques, you can find a variety of other menu items just as exciting as their ice cream. From frozen treats to waffles, Glaces Glazed is elevating standards in Paris’s ice cream market.
