But where can we eat without all the celebrity-chef high-kicking ho-ha, is a frequent request. Darlings, look no farther than the Frères Blanc addys: They're always a delight to the eye, and the palate, with seasonal décor showcasing the products they're using at the time. You walk by them all the time, next time stop at, say:
Au Pied de Cochon, Le Grand Café Capucines, Le Procope, L’Alsace, Chez Jenny, La FermetteMarbeuf, Le Petit Zinc, Le Flora Danica, Charlot Roi des Coquillages, La Lorraine, Grand B, LeSud (my fave), Le Copenhague, Le Bar André at La Rochelle, La Lorraine au Luxembourg and all the Chez Cléments.
And, because Les Frères Blanc have you in mind, diarise 19-26 September when the genial Bernard Leprince, MOF, Chef des Chefs du Groupe Frères Blanc plan a programme of tastings and discoveries in each of the restaurants. Most of the addys have history so expect “backstage” tours, music, kitchen visits, expect to be impressed.
“With all our animations we aim to show our customers how restaurants function in France, how we use excellent local products and how gastronomie can be fun and cultural”, explains Bernard Le Prince.
There's no charge for the extra fun and frolics but do book ahead here.
Remember the enchanting film Les Triplettes de Belleville (around 2003)? And the Citroen HY driven by Madame Souza? Well, go to @GlacesGlazed to track INSEAD graduate Henri Guittet's rock n'roll superstar ice cream truck in your 'hood, the best glace ever is served out of a Citroen HY!
Guittet's making/creating innovative ice-cream because he loves it, wants to break the codes of tradi blends that he loathes. London has influenced this glace-o-phile who learned his craft at Mairie de Paris, evening school, and honed it chez Lenôtre.
Also find it chez. Respect!
