« Psst…meet me at Café des Ministères », whispers Normal 1er (aka François Hollande) to his friend Jean Yves. « It’s easy to park ze scooter and the food is exceptional. We’ll  sit in a quiet corner, nobody will see us, and it’s next to the Assemblée Nationale, so no wasted travelling time. The old place, always a favourite of mine, has been given a bit of a make-over by Pierre Canot and Thierry Peltraut. And, you haven’t seen Alix Waline’s wall paintings or the Yves Klein style blue lobsters in the window, nickel ! ». Mamie Burger Pasta and Burgers, two items you should think twice about ordering on a first date or at a business lunch. Can be very messy darling.  Apparently researchers in Japan spent four months working out the best way to (b)eat a burger.  Three experts in fluid mechanics, engineering and dentistry worked together producing a 3D scan of a hamburger which they then analyzed on a particle level (me neither!). Their conclusion was that while most people pick up their burgers with thumbs on the bottom, other fingers on top, the experts decided that burger eaters should have their thumbs and pinkies supporting the bottom bun and their middle fingers spread evenly on top to minimize spillage, maximize the amount of beef and bun making it into the mouth. You may be familiar with Mamie Burger, rue Saint Fiacre, 2nd. A tiny space, always packed. Now there’s MB Opera, a bigger space, always packed ! Born in Hampton, Middlesex, UK, Margaret Kemp is a lifestyle journalist, based between London, Paris and the world. Intensive cookery courses at The Cordon Bleu, London, a wedding gift from a very astute ex-husband, gave her the base that would take her travelling (leaving the astute one behind) in search of rare food and wine experiences, such as the vineyards of Thailand, 'gator hunting in South Florida, learning to make eye-watering spicy food in Kerala;pasta making in a tiny Tuscany trattoria. She has contributed to The Guardian, The Financial Times Weekend and FT. How To Spend It.com, The Spectator, Condé Nast Traveller, Food & Travel, and Luxos Magazine. She also advises as consultant to luxury hotels and restaurants. Over the years, Kemp has amassed a faithful following on BonjourParis. If she were a dish she'd be Alain Passard's Millefeuille “Caprice d'Enfant”, as a painting: Manet’s Dejeuner sur l’herbe !
