Ask Karen: Air Safety

By Karen Fawcett
Dear Sam & Eileen:

My email box has been flooded with this question. My emphatic feeling is that I would come to Paris -- and most especially now. It has been proven that the French and the U.S. governments are committed to fighting any and all possible terrorist attacks.

It's interesting to be in France and watch French versus U.S. news. The French broadcasts are very cool and not playing the cancellation of the Air France flights as something that signifies death and gloom. In contrast, the American news stations such as CNN are making this headline news.

I'm not say that one shouldn't be cautious. However, I have faith in the cooperation of the two governments to work together to combat terrorism -- something I fear will be with us forever. As a matter of fact, I'm going to take advantage of the "situation" and book my trip to the US as soon as possible. Why not profit from the lower fares that can be currently obtained.

My mantra is that you can't stop living or flying. It's just as easy (more) to be in a car accident. Look at the statistics.

Come to Paris and enjoy.

Karen
